Sometimes we just have a really crappy day. Maybe you woke
up late or your boss is up your butt and nagging on you for every single little
thing. Your dog ran away. You have no chocolate and no desire to leave your
house. Your boyfriend won’t reply to your texts. Your boyfriend broke up with
you. Your boyfriend doesn’t exactly know he’s your boyfriend…Uh, anyways…
My point here is that we all have days where we want to lay
in bed, curled up in the fetal position crying and watching Sixteen Candles
because what woman can’t relate to every single Molly Ringwald movie ever made?
On these days that make us feel like we are going insane we need to be reminded
that everything is okay. It’s a bad day, not the end of the world. Hell, it might
even be a bad week, but it is still not the end of the world. There are so many
worse things going on in today’s society. Innocent children are starving to
death, countries are in war, people don’t have clean drinking water, the list
goes on and on but yet we still feel like throwing ourselves off of a bridge
for the hell of it because we might have accidentally had lipstick on our teeth
throughout an entire day at the office. So days and weeks that we feel this way
we need to do something about it.
Being proactive to one’s own happiness is the best thing you
can do for yourself. Relying on others to make you happy is something that I
have learned to be incredibly disappointing. Be the type of woman, or man, who
can find happiness within yourself first. The most important relationship we
will ever have is internally. We can’t make someone else happy if we don’t even
know how to make ourselves happy.
Here’s some things I
like to do to be happy:
1.
Write out a list of what makes me happy-This
changes all the time. One week I’m happy because I put something good out into
the world that I can be proud of. Sometimes it’s just the simple fact that I am
breathing and here and I know that everything will fall back into place again.
2.
Quotes-I write out quotes that promote
positivity and happiness and put them on my dresser mirror, in my car, on my
cereal boxes, anywhere simple and fun that I can read them and think about how
grateful I am for every moment I get.
3.
Go outside-Nature is beautiful. Whenever
I am outside I am so relaxed and everything feels pretty and calming. There is
so much beauty all around us and staying inside you don’t get to experience
what the world has to offer. Go exploring, take your mom or your friend and
chat about things that you’re happy about or grateful for.
4.
Talk-I talk to my friends or my family.
Anyone who can remind me what it’s like to laugh and be happy!
